Luca leverages his extensive academic background in the biomedical field to identify and evaluate new companies in the areas of therapeutics, synthetic biology, and agritech. He also plays a crucial role in providing DCVC Bio’s portfolio companies operational and strategic assistance as well as fundraising support, enabling them to achieve their milestones and unlock their full growth potential.
Prior to joining DCVC, Luca received an MD, summa cum laude, from the University of Bologna, and a PhD in neuroscience and molecular biology from the Rockefeller University, where he studied the mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders in the laboratories of Lasker Awardee Jeff Friedman and Nobel Laureate Paul Greengard. His work resulted in first authorships of research papers published in the journals Cell and Molecular Psychiatry. While a graduate student in New York, Luca was involved in the tech ecosystem as a consultant for start-ups and early-stage investors.
Beyond his scientific endeavors, Luca founded and directs Pintô International, a contemporary art gallery that promotes Southeast Asian and Central American artists globally, with headquarters in New York and San Francisco.
