Growing protein-rich livestock feed such as fishmeal and soy contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation. Entocycle is using automation, computer vision, and machine learning to grow low-carbon, high-protein feed in the form of black soldier fly larvae. The larvae feed on organic waste products such as food waste, manure, and agricultural byproducts, and are up to 50 percent protein by dry weight.
