Today’s farmers use enormous volumes of synthetic nitrogen fertilizer to keep crops growing, but fixing that nitrogen emits greenhouse gases, while nitrogen runoff fouls rivers and lakes. Pivot Bio develops proprietary microbes that live in the rhizosphere around the roots of cereal crops, converting atmospheric nitrogen directly into a form that plants can use and reducing overall demand for synthetic fertilizer.
