Owners of cryptocurrencies and NFTs typically store their assets in a myriad of Web3 wallets protected by PIN codes, private keys, and seed phrases. If the owner dies or is incapacitated, there’s no established infrastructure for passing custody along to an heir, as there would be with a conventional bank account. Vault12 makes a mobile app that provides NFT or cryptocurrency owners with decentralized backup of their Web3 assets, as well as the ability to assign “guardians” who will transfer the assets to a beneficiary in the event of the owner’s death.
