Robotic synthesis of chemicals is a burgeoning technology, but there’s no standard operating system or specification language to make the process interoperable across different labs or facilities. Chemify founder and CEO Lee Cronin developed XDL, a chemical description language intended to be to the next generation of synthetic chemistry machines what HTML is to a web browser. Chemify is building automated synthesis hardware that uses XDL to convert code to molecules, or molecules to code, on demand.
