Apache Kafka, originally developed by LinkedIn, is an open source system that makes stream processing in distributed appli­ca­tions more efficient by grouping messages, among other techniques. Confluent reimagined Kafka to make it cloud-native, more scalable, and more available. The company offers developers tools for running on-premises as well as multi-cloud or hybrid versions of Apache Kafka as well as a fully managed version through the Confluent Cloud.
