Our blood carries many forms of information about our health. One of those is cell-free messenger RNA (cf-mRNA), which reflects the varieties of protein synthesis occurring in the body’s organs and shows distinct patterns in patients with active disease. Molecular Stethoscope has developed a way to isolate and quantify cf-mRNA, compare it to a proprietary database of gene and protein expression patterns, and use machine learning algorithms to pull out possible signals of disease — starting with cardiometabolic and inflammatory conditions. The information could help researchers and physicians match targeted medications to the patients most likely to respond.
