Blockchains can make the terms of smart contracts tamperproof — but most blockchains rely on off-chain compu­ta­tional nodes called oracles to fetch the real-world data needed to trigger a contract’s execution. Chainlink Labs is creating Decen­tral­ized Oracle Networks (DONs) that can act as secure, scalable interfaces between smart contracts on blockchains and resources such as web servers, cloud storage, and other DONs. In this way, the company aims to help developers build hybrid smart contracts into their decen­tral­ized appli­ca­tions and provide global enterprises with a universal gateway to all blockchains.
