Overcoming growth bottlenecks in the AI industry by making data centers more power-flexible
Nuclear fission can be a clean, reliable, affordable source of electricity for the grid and heat for industrial applications. Kairos Power is designing and manufacturing an advanced, high-temperature, low-pressure pebble bed reactor using TRISO fuel and Flibe molten salt coolant. The technology is inherently safe and efficient, using conventional fabrication, off-the-shelf components, and in-house production to target costs competitive with natural gas. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued a construction permit for Kairos Power’s Gen IV Hermes 2 commercial-scale demonstration plant reactor in 2024, and Google has agreed to help fund up to 500 MW of clean electricity development by 2035.
