Methane (CH4) is a powerful greenhouse gas, and animal agriculture is its biggest emitter. To limit global temperature increases, we’ll also have to limit the amount of methane released by bacteria in the rumens of cattle as a normal part of the animals’ digestive process. CH4 Global is scaling up an affordable, profitable method for growing and processing a seaweed-based cattle feed supplement that reduces methane production by up to 90 percent and diverts the lost food energy to cattle themselves.
