Aquafortus

Tradi­tion­ally, industrial water users have treated high-salinity wastewater using ecolog­i­cally damaging evaporation ponds or complex, energy-hungry combi­na­tions of thermal evaporation, chemical precip­i­ta­tion, filtering, and ion exchange. Aquafortus’s energy-efficient alternative uses a novel absorbent to pull the water from industrial brines, allowing minerals and metals to precipitate out in the process. It then separates the water from the absorbent, which can be reused.
