Rachel Slaybaugh promoted to Partner
We are delighted to announce that Rachel Slaybaugh, who joined DCVC in early 2022 as a Principal, has been promoted to Partner.
From the time of her arrival, Rachel has been integral to our work in finding, funding, and growing companies using Deep Tech to address climate change as aggressively and successfully as possible. DCVC is committed to having an outsized impact on what is truly the most pressing scientific and engineering challenge the world has ever faced.
Rachel’s superb background has allowed her to hit the ground running at DCVC. She most recently served as a tenured Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering at UC Berkeley, where she also honed her skills nurturing Deep Tech entrepreneurs in two additional dimensions. She directed the Cyclotron Road accelerator of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, which backs entrepreneurial scientists as they advance technology projects with the potential for global impact. She also served as a Program Director at the U.S. Department of Energy’s ARPA‑E, where she created the nuclear fission program and helped issue awards to over 30 companies and teams pursuing advances in the field. Having worked intensely at the intersection of Deep Tech and commercialization, she has brought the firm expertise and experience working with entrepreneurs vital to helping us identify and support the most promising climate-focused companies in the world.
Rachel’s promotion signals both our high confidence in her and our commitment to addressing climate change with the talent, passion, and seriousness required. Congratulations, Rachel!
